Sunray mosaics
An agreeable warmth awaits you behind the imposing glass door. The sound of gentle strings floats delicately and wistfully through the air. Ringing footsteps on the marble floor are muffled now by the dark carpet.
Your gaze is automatically drawn to the middle of the room, up to the ceiling. A Christmas tree with silver decorations dominates the tall but cosy room. The dark wood panelling glows exquisitely in the soft light. The smell of Christmas spices fills the hotel lobby. Guests relax on soft upholstered seating in light and dark earthy tones.
A gigantic round glass mosaic on the ceiling floods the room with colourful light – colourful daylight. Because the mosaic casts a delicate glass pyramid of sunrays into the lobby. Their reflections dance in the glass baubles on the fir tree.
Advent Sunday is just around the corner and it's freezing cold outside. But no one notices the cold in the lobby of the Kempinski Hotel Four Seasons in Munich. The staff busily anticipate what the guests want before they have been able to say it. There is excited chatter everywhere: in English, German, French and Russian.
The lobby invites people from all over the world to linger. A pleasant whiff of freshly brewed coffee blends with the aroma of Christmas spices. Something to put a smile on the lips of any tired visitor.
