New construction of the Mercier post office building in Luxembourg
The Mercier post office building in Luxembourg has been extended to meet modern requirements in terms of functionality and sustainability. The inviting atrium, the centrepiece of the building, serves as an entrance and reception area with sculptural main staircases and panoramic lifts and also houses conference and event rooms as well as a two-storey canteen - covered by a LAMILUX Glass Roof PR60 Passivhaus, which provides the space with plenty of natural light. This emphasises the modern architecture of the post office building and creates a bright, friendly atmosphere. Subtle variations in light and planted trees lend the light-flooded atrium the relaxed, airy charm of an inner-city square.

Platinum certificate from the DGNB
The building has been awarded the platinum certificate of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). This certificate stands for outstanding sustainability in terms of ecology, economy and socio-cultural quality. The choice of the LAMILUX Glass Roof PR60 Passivhaus was decisive in achieving this certification. The high energy efficiency and innovative design features of the Glass Roof contributed significantly to this award.

Impressive glass architecture
The imposing glass construction in the atrium measures an impressive 27.35 m x 24.35 m (665.97 m²) and is 27 metres high. The roof also consists of 180 glass panes and is certified in accordance with the strict requirements of the passive house standard. It minimises energy loss and maximises energy savings. The surface slope of 5° ensures optimum water drainage and prevents the accumulation of snow and dirt. Installed as LAMILUX Glass Roof PR60 Passivhaus, this system stands for durability, stability and excellent energy properties.

Fresh air for greater well-being
Louvre vents in the vertical glazing of the atrium also enable natural ventilation. This ensures a constant supply of fresh air, which significantly improves the indoor climate. In combination with the daylight that enters through the glass roof, people's well-being is enhanced. The atrium is therefore not only flooded with light, but also energy-efficient and health-promoting.
