Renovation Combines Functionality with an Open-Minded Spirit

The Dante-Gymnasium in Munich, recognized as a "School without Racism – School with Courage", underwent a comprehensive renovation that highlights its progressive and inclusive character. Even before the renovation, the school's vibrant and welcoming ethos was reflected in both its architectural design and color scheme—a concept that has now been further enhanced and emphasized. The renovation focused on modernizing key areas such as the assembly hall, atrium, classrooms, and sanitary facilities. Special attention was given to the central atrium, where the existing glass roof was completely replaced with a LAMILUX Glass Roof PR60.

An Innovative Glass Roof for a Bright and Open Atmosphere

LAMILUX was entrusted with replacing the school’s aging central glass roof with the modern LAMILUX Glass Roof PR60. The aluminum framework supports a 275 m² double-glazed glass surface, optimizing natural daylight conditions. The transformed atrium now serves as a bright, open space, functioning as both a meeting point and a versatile venue for events such as theatre performances and concerts. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the glass roof offers functional advantages, featuring an advanced sealing and drainage system that improves energy efficiency by reducing heat loss.

Safety and Comfort in Everyday School Life

The new glass roof is more than just a visual enhancement—it also delivers practical solutions. Two integrated ventilation flaps ensure effective air circulation, while an advanced smoke and heat exhaust system and modern smoke detectors significantly improve fire safety measures. As a result, students and teachers benefit from a comfortable and secure environment, reinforcing the school’s welcoming atmosphere.
