Aesthetics and function in a glass roof

The Glass Roof of Sheffield Hallam University is surrounded by other, much taller university buildings, which made the architecture and geometry of the roof a decisive factor. With the LAMILUX Glass Roof PR60, it was possible to acquire an elegant and aesthetic solution that blends harmoniously into the existing architecture and at the same time meets the highest quality standards.

Solar protection for energy efficiency

Particular attention was paid to the high-performance solar control glazing, which achieves a low U-value of 0.29 and thus contributes to the building's energy efficiency. Each of the custom-made glass elements PR60 was fitted with a specially coated glass panel that perfectly matches the colour of the frame in RAL 7012 basalt grey. This colour coordination visually distracts from the adjacent ventilation ducts and underlines the elegant design of the glass roof.

Precise planning enables successful installation

The location of Sheffield Hallam University in the busy city centre posed a particular challenge for the installation of the daylight elements. Due to the proximity to the train and bus station, construction equipment such as cranes could only be used to a limited extent. Despite these logistical restrictions, the installation of the glass elements was successfully completed within the tight time frame thanks to careful planning and coordination.

With the LAMILUX Glass Roof PR60, it was possible to achieve an aesthetic, energy-efficient and functional solution that meets the university's high requirements.
