Kindergarten St. Severin in a New Light
The Kindergarten St. Severin in Garching offers its young visitors not only plenty of space to play and learn but also an exceptional daylight experience. The new building replaces two older facilities and combines modern architecture with a natural ambiance. A total of 22 round LAMILUX Glass Skylights F100 Circular define the building, which blends harmoniously into the park-like surroundings with its mature trees. These innovative daylight systems not only create a bright and friendly environment but also support the children’s natural daily rhythm.

Architecture in Harmony with Nature
Designed by architectural firm Wollmann and Mang BDA, the building features a reinforced concrete structure with an insulated wooden façade and a green roof. Its curved roof shape and the use of natural materials allow it to seamlessly integrate into the landscape. At the heart of the kindergarten is the light-filled gathering hall, serving as a central meeting place where children eat together, celebrate, and spend time in larger groups. Thanks to the LAMILUX Glass Skylights F100 Circular, this space is bathed in daylight from above, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that enhances the natural beauty of wood and concrete materials.

Round Design Unites Aesthetics and Functionality
The choice of round skylights was intentional—their soft shapes harmonize perfectly with the curved ceiling elements of the building. With an impressive 1.5-meter diameter, these skylights create expansive light openings, offering both aesthetic appeal and functional advantages. Featuring real glass with sun protection and safety features such as fall-through protection and hail resistance, these skylights are perfectly tailored to the needs of a kindergarten. Additionally, integrated opening motors allow for effective ventilation and ensure smoke and heat extraction in case of emergency.

A Perfect Plan Thanks to Seamless Collaboration
The collaboration between the architects and LAMILUX specialist consultant Michael Zotz was a key factor in the project's success. From the first consultation at the BAU trade fair in Munich to the precise planning and installation of the 22 daylight systems, Zotz provided expert guidance throughout the process. Thanks to his dedicated support, the implementation proceeded smoothly and efficiently—a testament to the high service quality that LAMILUX delivers.
