At Kinderkrippe Wiggensbach, innovative architecture and a well-planned sustainability concept come together. Two large LAMILUX Glass Roof PR60 systems not only provide optimal lighting conditions but also transform the central play corridor into a daylight-flooded heart of the building.

A Space for Children, Nature, and Sustainability

The Wiggensbach childcare centre impresses with its harmonious design, where wood, light, and nature blend into a welcoming and inspiring environment. Designed for up to 75 children aged one to three years, this space offers more than just a place to play and learn—it fosters a deeper connection to nature. With its commitment to sustainability and modern timber construction, the facility sets new standards for child-friendly architecture.

Sustainability Meets Design Excellence

Built in just nine months, the 1,650-square-meter facility was developed in collaboration with architecture firm f64. The design balances functionality and aesthetics, ensuring an efficient and visually appealing space. The two large LAMILUX Glass Roof PR60 systems play a crucial role in the building’s sustainable design, providing natural lighting while reducing energy consumption. "Short construction times, clear processes, and high execution quality were key reasons for integrating these daylight systems," explains architect Rainer Lindermayr.

The LAMILUX Glass Roof PR60: More Than Just a Skylight

The two PR60 glass roofs in the play corridor are truly impressive. Measuring 2.8 x 6.8 meters each, with five glass panels per roof, they flood the space with daylight, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. At the same time, they enhance the building’s energy efficiency. The high-performance thermal insulation glass minimizes heat loss, while the use of durable and recyclable materials like glass and aluminum reinforces the building’s ecological commitment.

A Light-Filled Space for Community and Learning

The multi-purpose play corridor serves as the heart of the childcare centre. Beneath the two glass roofs, children come together to play, learn, and explore their creativity. Ample natural daylight fosters a relaxed and stimulating atmosphere, proven to enhance mood and improve cognitive development. Paired with locally sourced timber materials that extend from the façade to the interior, the Wiggensbach childcare centre becomes a welcoming space that nurtures both community and a deep connection to nature.
