Neuwied Zoo, the largest zoo in Rhineland-Palatinate, delights visitors with its impressive diversity: around 1,800 animals from over 185 species, including lions, seals and crocodiles, make a visit a special experience. The spacious enclosures and large animal habitats ensure that an excursion is fun even in bad weather. Families particularly appreciate ‘SWeNis Kinderland’, which has a large playground and a petting enclosure to keep the little ones entertained. Whether exciting animal observations or relaxed play - the zoo offers a successful mix of adventure and relaxation.

Functionality and aesthetics in perfect balance

This is exactly where the LAMILUX Glass Roof PR60 can be found. As an imposing glass pyramid, it towers over the enclosures and brings nature indoors. It is therefore not only an architectural and visual highlight, but also fulfils important functions. The thermal bridge-free construction ensures optimum energy efficiency of the building and provides plenty of daylight throughout the day. Not only visitors benefit from the natural lighting, which makes it easier for them to find their way around, but also the animals. The high level of daylight supports the animals' natural environment, while modern safety and weather protection systems offer maximum comfort.

Safety solutions for protection and comfort

The Glass Construction is also equipped with eight smoke and heat extraction systems (SHEVS), which use pneumatic cylinders to ensure rapid smoke extraction in the event of a fire. These safety precautions ensure clear escape routes and increase the safety of all visitors and residents. The system is supplemented by a wind and rain sensor set that reacts automatically to changes in the weather and closes the roof vents in the event of rain or strong winds. This protects the indoor climate and efficiently controls water drainage.

Sustainability and environmental protection through modern construction technology

In addition to the aesthetic and functional design, sustainability also plays a central role. The LAMILUX Glass Roof PR60 enables excellent utilisation of light, which reduces energy consumption and contributes to the natural lighting of the interior spaces. The use of innovative materials and technology minimises CO₂ emissions, which means that the project not only helps to beautify the zoo, but also promotes environmentally conscious construction methods.
