A modern new building for culture and crafts

A harmonious ensemble

The new building for the Hamburg State Opera's opera fundus is the first to bring together all the foundations and workshops in one central location. The architecture combines concrete and timber constructions, creating a clear structure and a harmonious overall ensemble. A long timber-framed building functionally combines the workshops and the magazine, while compact construction methods ensure efficient use of space. Subtle differentiations in colour and material emphasise the various areas of use and give the opera house an unmistakable character. This building sets standards in terms of functionality, efficiency and aesthetic quality.

State-of-the-art daylight solutions for the new building

The new Opera Fundus building in Hamburg, which serves as a storage and working facility for masks, costumes and scenery for the Hamburg State Opera, has been equipped with state-of-the-art daylight solutions from LAMILUX. These systems not only ensure optimum lighting conditions in the premises, but also offer comprehensive safety functions. The LAMILUX daylight systems help to efficiently flood the interiors with natural daylight and improve the working environment of the opera workshops.

Efficient daylight utilisation and safety

LAMILUX Continuous Rooflights B are one of the central solutions used in the opera house. Thanks to their flexible lengths, they can be adapted to a wide variety of buildings and offer the possibility of directing large areas of daylight into the rooms. The translucency and robust construction not only ensure a bright atmosphere, but also an energy-efficient solution that significantly reduces lighting costs. In addition, the integrated smoke and heat extraction units (SHEV) in the Continuous Rooflight provides additional safety in the event of a fire by enabling rapid smoke extraction.

Practical extension for maintenance and ventilation

In addition to the Continuous Rooflights, the LAMILUX Flat Roof Access Hatch Comfort Solo was also integrated into the building concept. This not only offers convenient access to the roof, but also improves ventilation options. With a generous opening, this flat roof hatch ensures easy maintenance work and safe access to the roof. The automatic drive and stable construction make the flat roof hatch a functional addition to the daylight solutions.
