New Light for Würzburg’s Premier Event Venue
The Vogel Convention Center is one of Würzburg’s top event locations. With the renewal of its sawtooth roofs and the installation of modern daylight systems, the building has not only undergone a technical upgrade but has also become an architectural highlight for events of all kinds.

The Vogel Convention Center is a high-profile event space that accommodates a diverse range of functions. From exclusive gatherings in the visionary "The Curve" event hall to the 856 m² Shed Hall and the Rotationshalle, which hosts up to 1,100 guests, the venue offers a variety of settings for corporate and private events. The Shed Hall, with its distinctive glass-paneled sawtooth roof, has always been a signature architectural feature. However, over time, the old wired glass construction had lost its brilliance, making a comprehensive roof renovation essential. This project aimed to modernize the building while maintaining its prestigious and representative character.
A Race Against Time – Renovation Under Tight Deadlines
The challenge was immense: The entire renovation had to be completed within just four weeks to ensure that the event operations could resume without delays. Within this tight timeframe, the project required the safe removal and disposal of the old wired glass structure, the installation of an energy-efficient, modern, and visually appealing solution, and a renewal of the sawtooth roofs, which play a critical role in both daylight intake and the ambience of the space.
Innovative Daylight Systems from LAMILUX
To meet these demands, the decision was made to install three LAMILUX Glass Roof PR60 systems as modern sawtooth roofs with a 70° inclination. These consist of extruded aluminum profiles and feature an optimized insulation core and advanced sealing system for thermal separation and energy efficiency. Additionally, seven integrated ventilation flaps were installed within the glass roof, ensuring a steady flow of fresh air and creating a comfortable indoor climate, which is essential for event spaces that host hundreds of people. To further enhance daylight intake and energy efficiency, 21 LAMILUX Glass Skylights FE 3° were installed in other areas of the Vogel Convention Center.

Thanks to this extensive renovation, the Vogel Convention Center now radiates renewed elegance. The bright and inviting event spaces create a welcoming atmosphere, while optimized climate control through the combination of daylight and controlled ventilation enhances comfort, even during longer events. Additionally, the thermally separated structures help retain heat and lower energy costs. The successful collaboration between the architects, project planners, and LAMILUX has transformed the Vogel Convention Center into a cutting-edge event venue, where aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability go hand in hand.
